The story of serving from one to many

We started with 2 slums in Pune city in January 2019, and today our work is in 123 slums, reaching 28,500 elderlies

The next two cities we expanded to were Mumbai in Maharashtra and Bhopal in Madhya Pradesh.

In April 21, we rolled-out our first rural project in two blocks/ rural areas of Gwalior district.

In April 22, we have rolled out our second rural project in Kambre village of Pune District

Empowering Elderly Care: Insights from the National Seminar
On 31st July 2024, Vriddha Mitra participated in the National Seminar on Ageing & Social Care for the Elderly, co-hosted by the World Bank and the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment at Dr. Ambedkar International Center, New Delhi. Dr. Benazir Patil presented the program’s journey, highlighting challenges and opportunities in implementing ‘Aging in Place’, an approach that promotes elderly care within homes and communities. The discussion emphasized the need for systems that ensure dignity, independence, and well-being for the elderly, even in socio-economically challenging conditions.
Inauguration of Geriatric Unit & Elderly Care Initiatives in Varanasi
In February 2024, the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment awarded a grant for implementing the Vriddha Mitra community-based project in Varanasi, leading to a collaboration with the local government. This partnership established a Geriatric Unit at Sarnath Community Health Center (CHC), providing physiotherapy services for the elderly. In September 2024, Honourable Governor of Uttar Pradesh, Smt. Anandiben Patel, formally inaugurated the Geriatric Unit and launched a new transport service to enhance elderly access to medical care. A thank-you letter was extended to SCHOOL for its contributions to elderly welfare.
Inauguration of City-Wide Expansion of Community-Based Project in Pune
On 12th September 2023, Shri Ramesh Bais ji, Honourable Governor of Maharashtra, inaugurated the city-wide expansion of a community-based project in Pune. This initiative aims to enhance social impact, foster community well-being, and drive sustainable development across the city. The event marked a significant milestone in empowering local communities and strengthening collaborative efforts for a better future.
